Scholarships

The Univesrity of Arizona awards many scholarships, UA students may also obtain scholarship money from organizations outside the University. The hub for all UA scholarships is Scholarship Universe.

 

Leslie N. Goodding Scholarship
Leslie N. Goodding Scholarship was created by Les and Thelma Goodding in memory of Leslie N. Goodding, a noted southwestern botanist.  This scholarship supports undergraduate students pursing a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology who are native of Arizona, New Mexico, or Colorado.  Preference will be shown to those majoring in botany.

EEB Awards and Recognition

EEB Poster Session
The Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology hosts an annual Poster Session in April of each year.  Participating students are EEB or Biology majors or minors, or are conducting research with a faculty member in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology or a related area.  Both beginner and advanced categories are represented, and there are scholarship prizes to the Biology or EEB majors with top-placing posters in both divisions.

Outstanding Senior
The Outstanding Senior award is given to a graduating senior who excels in her/his studies (as evidenced by having a GPA of 3.5 or higher), is involved in research, and is also recognized as a leader within the campus or the larger community.  The balance between these different aspects may vary, but every nominee is expected to be strong in all three.

 

Excellence in Undergraduate Research
The Excellence in Undergraduate Research award is given to a graduating senior who has shown outstanding achievement in independent undergraduate research. The student’s work should show originality, creativity, and a level of independence appropriate to the discipline.
