My research interests are in the areas of the evolution of C4 photosynthesis, forest biogeochemical cycles, N relations of plants, tree rings as proxies for past climate variation and tree carbon relations, emission of volatile organic compounds from leaves and forests and their influence on tropospheric chemistry, and stable isotope biogeochemistry.
